KAFE 104.1 RAISES OVER $23K FOR ROYAL FAMILY KIDS CAMP AT THIS YEAR’S DRIVE BY GIVING

Every year for the last three decades years KAFE This Morning has broadcasted their “Drive By Giving” show live outside of the Alabama street Cruisin’ Coffee in Bellingham to r

aise money and show support for Royal Family Kids (RFK) Camp.

This year on May 2nd, KAFE 104.1 hosts Patrice Valentine, Dave Walker, Allan Fee and Scotty VanDryver, set out to raise enough money to send 68 kids to camp. The crew helped raise over $23,000, enough to send a full camp.

“What makes [RFK camp] different from the other camps is we have a community that 100% gets it, and they want to make a difference in the lives of foster kids,” said Andrea Ketchum, who works with Royal Family Kids.

The RFK Camp is a one-week overnight experience for kids who have grown up in the foster system and had a rough start to life. RFK Camp helps create “positive, life-changing moments” from ages 6 to 11 years old, who have potentially experienced neglect, abuse, or abandonment. Anyone who drives by can choose to donate through the Cruisin’ Coffee or park and donate in person.

“We could never have done this if KAFE wasn’t so on board,” said Ketchum. “I believe [giving to RFK] is the purest form of giving that you can give within any organization.”

“The support of the community is a huge part of Drive By Giving. Listeners and businesses know they are helping these kids that have had a rough start to life. We’ve seen firsthand the difference Royal Family Kids makes in these children’s lives, helping give them the support and confidence they need as they grow up,” said KAFE 104.1’s Scotty VanDryver.

Businesses and individuals in the community who joined the station in raising and donating money to RFK included DeWaard & Bode, Barron Heating, West Edge Credit Union, Slice of Heaven Bakery, and more.
