KAFE 104.1 and The Children’s Museum of Skagit County “Basics for Babies” Event Raises Nearly $16,000 for Families in Need
Burlington, WA – February 22, 2025: KAFE 104.1 partnered with The Children’s Museum of Skagit County on their first ever “Basic for Babies” event February 22nd and raised nearly $16,000 in cash and donations for local Skagit county families in need. Donations will be accepted through March.
The “Basics for Babies” event began in partnership with the radio station to raise awareness of the need for additional funding in the county to provide basic needed items like diapers, wipes and baby formula and as a way to let local residents know how they could help.
“The value of heightening awareness of both the need for these supplies and of the Basics for Babies initiative is enormous,” Cate L. Anderson, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Skagit County said in a statement.
In addition to promoting the event on-air, across KAFE’s social media and website, the station did a 3-hour live broadcast from the Children’s Museum of Skagit County on Saturday, February 22nd .
During the broadcast, listeners responded with donations of diapers, baby formula, baby wipes, cash and more. The Children’s Museum of Skagit County generously provided free admission with donation during the broadcast.
“It’s so great to see the community lift others up to help them out,” said Scotty VanDryver, KAFE 104.1 Program Director and on-site personality for the event. “As a Dad myself, I know that just the basic needs are expensive, and the cost keeps going up and up. The generosity of the Basic for Babies event will be able to allow families to not have to make the tough choice of diapers or groceries or paying the power bill.”
